ecda in the Classroom

About the Classrom

Welcome to the Classroom! This space hopes to  bring to life one of the most dynamic components of our project. The ECDA Classroom Space is an open access platform that seeks to assist students, teachers, and researchers of the early Caribbean in creating learning material to help extend knowledge of the early Caribbean.

We believe that working with the Early Caribbean Digital Archive will expand the ways in which we discuss and think about history, colonialism, and the experiences of enslaved people. Our classroom seeks to provide our users with the framework to teach these materials to insure that this happens. This includes offering access to sample syllabi, assignments/projects, research guides, and more. We also encourage those to contribute  their own work; our classroom thrives when we have materials available from a variety of different teachers and researchers from a variety of  levels, focuses and backgrounds.

Our Teaching Partners page consists of instructors currently collaborating with the ECDA. If you are teaching the Early Caribbean, the Resources for Teachers page includes  access to sample syllabi, assignments, and research guides for teaching with our project. For students interested in Early Caribbean studies, Resources for Students provides subject guides, keyword definitions, Early Caribbean bibliographies, and more. Finally, Featured Student Projects demonstrate the types of work students can produce by working with the ECDA.
