Abstract/Description
Emanuel's narrative appears as a brief case history on pgs. cxli-cxlii in volume one of A Voyage To the Islands Madera, Barbados, Nieves, S Christophers and Jamaica by Hans Sloane (1707). According to Sloane, Emanuel claims to be ill when asked to assist in finding a cove used by pirates; Sloane threatens Emanuel with bodily harm and Emanuel is subsequently able to perform the requested errand, but does so after the pirates' departure.
